ココ壱番屋！/Coco Ichibanya!

金曜日私が仕事から帰るなりミツワへ買い物/夕ご飯を目的に行ったんだけど、残念ながら着いた時間にはもうレストランの最後の注文受付が終わっていたので買い物もしたかったんだけど夕ご飯が先と結構前に何度か通りがかる度に行かなきゃと思っていたココ壱番屋へカレーを食べに行きました...メニューも日本にあるのとそっくりかな？ちゃんとマディソン用のお子様メニューもあって、私とデイブは大感激：）待ち時間もほとんど無く、やっぱりこっちのレストラントは違う、特に
1．ちゃんと子供用のフォークとスプーンが出て来る！
2．子供用メニューはとってもかわいいし栄養のバランスがとれてる。
3．最後に貰えるおまけのおもちゃが最高！
4．ボタンを押すと、誰かすぐに来てくれる。
日本に帰った時に一回みんなでココ壱行ったんだけど、今日はマディソンのカレー初体験、とっても気に入ったみたい：）
On Friday night, as soon as I got home from work, we took off for some Mitsuwa shopping/dinner in Torrance, but by the time we got to the store the food court part stopped taking orders and the store was about to close in half an hour so although I had some shopping to do there we left for Coco Ichibanya!(Curry house we found a while back but kept forgetting to go...) Dave was sooo happy the Mitsuwa restaurants closed on us! And you are about to see what I'm missing in kid's menus in the States! We waited for a few minutes for our seats and then ordering is super easy! All they have is Curry you just have to think of what kind of topping you want... and the food came pretty quick which was nice and Madison friendly:-) What I do not like about restaurants here are these...
1. They do not have kids size utensils! Which does not make sense at all! They have kid's menus.
2. Super cute kid's meals that are balanced(I wish they didn't put french fries here but can't have everything right?) and fun to see! I'm always disgusted with their options of chicken fingers, mac & cheese, and grilled cheese! Yuck:-(
3. A surprise gift with kid's meal:-)
4. A buzzer at the table that brings the waitress right when you need her, or even when you don't when Madison pushes it.

When we visited Japan(pre Madison) we all went out for a near by Coco Ichibanya so we knew what we were getting into and as we waited we found out this is the very first US location and actually opened in February of this year... Wish we would have tried sooner!
Anyhow Madison LOVED her first curry rice and the total bill to feed a family of three a dinner was under $25:-) Nearing McDonald levels these days!

私がほとんど食べました...ポテトを優先して食べなかったのは此れが初めてでした...凄いな、カレーの力：）
I ate most of the fries... This may have been the first time Madison chose something over her fries so we were very happy...:-)

ご飯の後、おもちゃ引換券でこのおもちゃを貰いました...写真を撮るの忘れちゃったんだけど、エリーに似た黒猫のケータイに付けるおもちゃ！
And AFTER her meal she got to pick a toy from a bag and she picked this... I forgot to take a picture of what she got but she got a black kitty key chain that looks like Ellie so that was cool!

土曜日はデイブが仕事があったので私とマディソンはアパートでのんびりお掃除しました。そして、お昼はオムライス！卵ぐちゃぐちゃになっちゃったけど味は懐かしいケチャップライスの味...
On Saturday Dave had to go to a Special Olympics Floor Hockey event so Madison and I spent a relaxing day inside the apartment... I got a lot of cleaning done for our sleep over with the Melton's next weekend(you will find out why in a week:-) For lunch I made us my Omelet Ketchup Rice which tastes so much better than it sounds but a staple menu option for kids in Japan...

Night on the town/デートナイト

Recognize the face on the right? If you are a fan of Top Chef you should...tonight Gma and Gpa were kind enough to babysit so Anna and I could have our first dinner in L.A. and it did not disappoint! We selected the restaurant of Season 2 Top Chef Winner Ilan Hall. The restaurant was set-up so you could see him at work the whole time...it was kind of like a Tapas Bar where Anna and I split 5 different dishes ranging from baby octopus to fries with dill, and his bacon wrapped matsoh balls which he is famous for...it was all very yummy...at the end of the meal he was kind enough to come out and pose for a photo...the other cool thing was who we were seated next to...
トップシェフを見た人はこの人が誰か分かるはずです...もちろん日本の家族には？だと思うけど...：）今夜スティーブとリンダにマディソンをお子守りして貰って僕はアンナと２人きりのロマンティックデート。ディナーに向かったのはロスのダウンタウンにあるイランホール(トップシェフの２代勝者)のレストランーガーブルズ...このレストランはどこに座っていても料理をしているシェフ達が見れると言う設定、もちろんイランシェフも：）そして注文した料理はどれも美味しくとても満足でした。日本で言うと本当にお洒落な居酒屋料理かな？小さめのお皿を５品注文して分けて食べたんだけど、写真を撮らなかったが残念です...他に凄かった事はこの人の隣に座った事...
Being a big fan of the too soon canceled show Samantha Who, as soon as we entered the restaurant we recognized her and when the hostess gave us a choice of the table right next to her you better believe we took it...we also made sure we were cool and didn't want to interrupt her dinner, so we had decided we would not say anything...then we got our Grebines, a BLT where the B is fried chicken skins instead of bacon...it was yummy and Melissa asked us where that was on the menu and we said well if you're going to talk to us then we wanted to say we loved Samantha Who and then Anna asked if she was in anything now and she said Mike and Molly on CBS and we thought whoops...she is the lead of her own sitcom now we knew that...we felt quite stupid and I said something like...that's right we haven't gotten into that yet, but we will start and she said, I'll check in with you...it was all very magical...she was really nice.
サマンサフー？って言う面白いコメディドラマにはまっていたんだけど、それに太った幼なじみ役で出ていた女優さん！せっかくのディナーだから邪魔しない様にと何も言わない様にしていたんだけど、僕達が頼んだ料理の一品に目が止まってそれどこにあった？って聞いて来てくれた！だからファンですって言う事が出来ました：）テレビの印象と同じとても良い人そうで良かった〜！今は違うコメディドラマの主演をしているんだよ。

So that was our big night on the town without Madison...Madison was apparently a great girl for her grandparents as well as they went to the aquarium and walked along the shore...a nice night was had by all.
マディソン抜きのデートナイトはこれでおしまいです...スティーブとリンダによるとマディソンも凄い良い子だったらしい。水族館に連れて行ってもらってとても楽しかったみたい。めでたし、めでたし。

またまた楽しいプレイグループ/Another Great Playgroup:-)

今日はまた日本人ママとその赤ちゃん達とプレイグループをしました。しかも今日はみんな住んでいるアッパーウェストサイドから遥々ここまで来て貰っちゃいました：）ありがとね！そしてお昼の献立は、ずーっと作りたくても一緒に食べる人がいなくて作れなかったちらし寿司...やっぱりこういう料理の美味しさが分かってくれる人達は良いな〜！
We had another great playgroup with our Japanese friends today... and even though they all live on the Upper West Side they came all the way to our home in Sunnyside:-) Thanks again guys! So I made Chirashi Zushi which I've been wanting to make for a long time but had nobody to make it for! Chirashi Zushi is a bed of Sushi rice mixed with vegetables and on top we put toppings like thinly sliced egg sheets, Salmon Roe, Seaweed, Sesame, Snap Peas, Steamed Shrimp, Denpu(Pink Flaked Sweet Fish Stuff), etc... SO nice to have Japanese friends who can appreciate those Japanese dishes...

もうみんなも知っている通りこのグループはほとんど同い年どうしだからみんなでお座りしてマディソンのおもちゃで仲良く遊んでました。たまにマディソンおもちゃ奪い取っていたけどね...ハハ！最近嫌がって使っていなかったジャンパーだけどコンラッド君が気に入ってくれたみたいで長い時間いい子で入っていました...マサキ君(１１ヶ月)もマディソンと同じであんまり今好きじゃないみたい、でも外から付いてるおもちゃで遊ぶのは好きみたいでそこで掴まり立ちしていたマサキ君は何とデイブのいた所まで初めて２、３歩と歩く事に成功!!!マサキ君のパパがみる事が出来なくて悪い気がしたんだけど観れて良かった〜！アキコさんは旦那さんに内緒にしたかな...
Most of you already know this, but all the babies are really close in age so they just sat around and had a great time playing with Madison's toys and she was really good at sharing... except occasionally she decided to take back some of them though... Conrad tried out the Jumper which is becoming Madison's not so favorite toy so glad someone enjoyed it... Masaki-kun(11 months) is also going through the not liking the jumper stage, but he seemed to really like to play with toys from outside... He even took his first steps(according to his mom) to Dave!!! I really felt bad that his dad didn't get to see it, but it was really exciting to see for us..:-) Maybe Akiko-san won't tell her husband he did it...

２時半ごろかな？いきなり赤ちゃん４人眠そうになったからマディソンはクリブでお昼寝を初めて、セフィちゃんとコンラッド君は交代でベッドの上でちょっと休む事が出来ました...またいろいろとお互いの事を知り合う事が出来た私は大満足です...：）もう次ぎに会う予定もさっそく決めちゃいました。
At around 2:30 all the babies seemed to hit the nap time sleepiness so Madison hit her crib and Sephi was able to use our bed to take a quick nap and switched with Conrad... Moms got to share and got to know each other more which is great and already made a plan for next playgroup...:-)

もう少しで忘れる所だった好奇心旺盛マディソンのした事と言えば...水の入ったコップを低いテーブルの上に置いて行った私がいけないんだけど、見てないと思って目を離した隙にそのコップをサトコさんのバッグの中に空けてしまってさあ大変!大慌てで中に入っていたカメラ、アイフォン、お財布などなど水たまりのバッグから出したりとタオルを取りに行って走り回っていたんだけど本人のサトコさんは心配してないみたい...カメラとケータイはちゃんと使えそうでホッと安心の一息!でも本当に目が離せない私に似たオテンバっ子：）
Oh I almost forgot what our trouble maker did today... I set two glasses of water on a table where Madison can reach and walked away thinking she didn't see that I did that, but she did so I came back and saw that she had dumped the water into Satoko-san's bag that was on the floor! Her camera, Iphone, wallets, etc were all soaked sitting in a pool of water!!! I freaked out and was running around to get a towel and to dump the water into the sink worrying that they were all ruined while Satoko-san acted like she wasn't worried at all... and her camera and Iphone still worked, thank goodness! But that little crazy girl is one to watch because she will surprise you:-)

１２月に食料棚の掃除をしながら夕ご飯の写真を撮っていたんだけど、夕ご飯日記を書いたのが面白かったから今年も続ける事にしました。とりあえず飽きるまで：）なのでこれは今週の夕ご飯日記！

動いてるよ〜！/She is on the move!

今日は大変な日でした...まず最初に郵便局まで日本にいる私の家族宛にクリスマスプレゼントの詰まった箱２箱を送りに...郵便局に着くと列は外に出そうな位長かったしマディソンも起きていたから大丈夫かなと思ったけど並んでみる事に...思ったより列は速く動いてくれたんだけど、丁度順番が来た途端にマディソンはベビーカーに座り疲れちゃったのか泣き叫び始めちゃって大変！シートベルトを着けてあるのにクネクネして出ようとしたり、眠たいんだろーなーともう少し頑張ってって抱っこしながらやっと終わり！外に出て歩き出した途端予想通り眠っちゃいました。そのあと家を通り越してパネラブレッドに朝ご飯を食べに行きながら朝注文しておいたクリスマスレターの印刷したのを取りに行きました。今年はクリスマスカードに写真も入れると張り切ってます！外を歩き回っている間ずっと良い子に寝ていたマディソン、そのせいなのか家に着いた後お昼寝一つも取りないじまいの午後...せっかく入ったフリーランスの仕事ができると思っていたら全然手が付けられなくって仕様が無い今夜は徹夜かな！？
話が変わってマディソンが今好きな事はと言うと、あちこち動き回る事！最近いろんな物に興味が出て手に取ってみたり口に入れたりしていると思っていたら今日初めて移動開始：）ハイハイまでは行かないけど腕だけで下半身を持ち上げてずるずるって行ってるみたい...このビデオが証拠です。
Today was a busy day... First we had to go to the post office to send out two boxes full of Xmas gifts for my family in Japan... When we got to the post office the line was at the door and Madison was awake in her stroller so I wasn't sure if she can handle the wait but the line moved quicker than I thought and our turn came up but then she decided that she wasn't gonna stay in her stroller all cute anymore! She started to scream and tried to wiggle out of her straps so I had to get her out and hold her... I knew she was so sleepy and that she would fall asleep as soon as we left the post office and of course it felt like the agent was taking FOREVER typing all the information in the system. Well, we got done with it and as I predicted as soon as we came outside and started walking she was gone! Sigh!
We walked past our place and went over to Panera Bread to get some breakfast for me and then we were off to Kinko's to pick up our Xmas news letter I ordered in the morning. We usually do color news letter but since we made Xmas photo cards for the first time we've decided to keep it simple and just do Black & White letters:-)
Madison slept the whole time we were out which was about an hour and a half and I don't know if that's why but she just could not take another nap all afternoon and evening... So frustrating! I actually had some freelance projects that I needed to work on in the afternoon but wasn't able to work on at all so I will be staying up late tonight... Another sigh!
Exciting news is that our little girl is on the move! She started to move a lot recently and today she started to scoot herself to everywhere! Wow this baby can scoot! She would spot something and will be there pulling or chewing on it so fast that I could not take my eyes off her for a second... So here is the proof:-)



最近夕ご飯の献立日記をあんまり書いていないけど最近作っていませんでした...デイブの両親も来てたしでートに行ったりしたし...これは昨日作った晩ご飯です。カレーピラフとラタテューユ！
I haven't been able to keep up with my dinner journal lately but that's because Dave's parents were visiting or we had date night, etc... so here is what I made last night... Curry Pilaf with Ratatouille and Parmesan cheese shavings.

平凡な火曜日.../Ordinary Tuesday...

まず最初に、この２、３日の献立はただの残り物だったからわざわざブログに載せなかったんだけど、何も食べてない訳じゃないから心配無用で〜す：）
Let me just tell you in case you are wondering that the last few days of our dinner menu have been left overs so that's why I didn't bother posting it on our blog... so don't worry we have been eating something... Just something not exciting enough to share:-)

さて今日の予定はと言うと、マディソンが朝のお昼寝から起きた後マンハッタンまでお買い物に行くつもり...そして観光客でいっぱいじゃなければロカフェ ラセンターのクリスマスツリーをマディソンに見せてあげる予定...ただの火曜日だから混んでなければ良いんだけど...
Today as soon as Madison wakes up from her morning nap we will be heading into the city for some shopping AGAIN! and some Christmas decoration viewing around Rockefeller Center if it's not swamped with annoying tourists... I hope it's not, it's just a Tuesday...

結果的にいいプレゼントが見つかったから良かったんだけど一番欲しかった物は残念ながら売り切れ...今週末で全部プレゼント探し終わればいいんだけどね...今日は天気が良かったから歩き回れていい火曜日になりました。
今日の晩ご飯は、えびとかにのマカロニグラタンです。
Okay so I got to cross off two more family members from the list today but the one thing I really wanted wasn't available so that was frustrating... But Madison and I got to have a nice walk around the city on such a nice day so very happy with how our Tuesday turned out:-)
Tonight's menu is Shrimp-Crab Macaroni Au Gratin. yummy!

ヤット終わり！/It's done!! It's done!!

今朝、やっとバンパープレートのゴタゴタに幕を下ろす事が出来ました。ちゃんと新しいの貰えたし(駐車場代も入れて２２ドルちょっとかかったけどね)、やっと終わった〜！そしてそのお祝いを込めてスタバーでラッテを買ってお祝い。ハロウィーンのスティーブとリンダから貰ったスタバカードを使っちゃいました...ごちそうさま：）
ターゲットにちょっとお買い物しに寄った後、来る時に見かけた新しそうなペットコーに寄ってココにあげてる薬(ココはうんちを食べちゃう悪い癖があるから)を買って行こうと思って入って行きながら、やっぱり新しいお店だー、わーまだいろいろ揃ってないし、こんなに整頓していいる人がいるって歩き回っていたらガーンッ！!まだ開店したないじゃん！慌ててマディソンに独り言言いながら早歩きで入り口へ逆戻り...：）良い笑い話になりました。
This morning Madison and I drove up to the DMV for the 3rd time in College Point to take care of the license plate issue... After a bit of a hiccup with the paper work (apparently the DMV is the last place left in the world that actually checks a signature against a license...I almost got busted for forging Dave's) we finally got a new set of plates! Yay! Before that it cost us $22.50 including $4 parking fee though... Stupid license plates thief!!
Well, We celebrated it by me getting a cup of latte at Starbucks using a gift card Steve and Linda gave us for Halloween... so thanks Steve and Linda:-)
Then we went to Target to do some shopping and on the way there we drove by a brand new looking PetCo so after we were done with Target we made a quick stop to get some more of Deter tablets for Coco(She eats poops...). We walked in and I remember thinking "yeah it's brand new...", "Oh those people are just setting up grooming tables...", "Wow, a lot of people are stocking shelves!" Then I turned around to see a big sign that says "Just Opened!" then I noticed that the other side that faces outside was saying "Coming Soon!"... Oops! I have walked into a store that is not even open! Of course I acted like it's not a big deal but I quickly walked out of the store while telling Madison that the store is actually not open yet...:-) Good times.

レンズ豆のスープ(写真無し)：食材棚にあるレンズ豆、人参、玉葱、冷凍庫にあるカナディアンベーコン、鶏ガラスープ、プチトマト、白ワイン、塩とこしょうを少々。

エビのサラダ：炒めたエビ、サラダミックス、豆腐、プチトマト、アボカド、あすかが送ってくれたごまドレッシング。
