Home Improvement Project(HIP)#1: Carpet floors to Hardwood floors/ホーム改善計画第１弾：カーペットからピカピカの床に

On our 2nd day in at our new house my blood hound nose kept smelling pee allover the house, especially on the carpet area with lots of stains and realized that all those stains are pee stains!! Dog pee!! While the previous owner was kind enough to take in foster dogs she didn't bother to take them out or potty train them so they went anywhere they felt like... As a result about 1000 sqft of wee wee pad situation...:-( The area we were thinking for Madison's play area was especially the worst and the carpet just had to go asap... We knew there will be original hardwood floors so all we had to do was find a floor guy to refinish the floors... In the afternoon Dave and Madison took Ellie for a walk before we went back to Church for the evening service they met a nice lady who was working in her yard with her daughter and for some reason they got to talking about floors and she happened to know a great floor guy who charges $1 per sqft and gave us a phone number to call... So on Monday Dave called him and set up an appointment for the next day.
私達の家に住み始めて２日目に私の犬並みの鼻がそこら中におしっこの匂いを嗅ぎ付き始めました。なんでだろうなんでだろうと思ってたんだけど、やっと分かりました！この家には床が全部カーペットになっていて、それはシミだらけ...そして、前に住んでいた人がよく飼い主の無い犬を短期預かっていたと言っていたのを思い出しました...このシミは全部そのワンちゃん達のおしっこだったんだー!!!もっとちゃんとしつけしてよー！と言う事で、急遽カーペットを全部引き剥がして下に元からあった床を磨いて貰う事にしました。私達はカーペット大嫌いなので、もともとそのつもりでいたんだけどこんなに早くする事になるとは...

 On Tuesday, Dave took off work (he was up all night de-stapling the place anyways) to be home with the floor guy and to meet someone who was coming to give us an estimate on a fencing off the pool area. The floor guys worked out great. They got here at 8am and worked until 7pm with a short break for lunch...and the finished product looked amazing! We could not have been more pleased. See for yourself :-) 
Here is a picture we got from a realestate site... The Shaggy carpet looked really badly stained...
月曜日の夕方から火曜日の朝にかけてデイヴはカーペットを全部剥がし床の人達が一日中かけて綺麗にしてくれました：）

 

Then the guest bedroom... Another stained carpet.

This was the area we were setting up Madison's play area... I can still smell the awful pee pad!!
マディソンのおもちゃを置こうとした所が一番ひどい!!ここが犬達のトイレだったみたい!!

Removing the staples was really pain...
カーペットの下のクッションをホッチキスみたいなので止めてあったらしいんだけど、それをひとつひとつ取り除くのが大変だったらしい...

 

But about to get sanded finally...
そろそろ表面を平らにするステップの番...
