Jiiji(G-pa) and Baaba(G-ma) Time!!!!!!! Part2/じいじとばあばが来たーの巻!!!!!! パート２

Tuesday of week 2 we took Jiiji and Baaba to where we used to live... Josh the doorman was still there and remembered us so we got to give them a tour of the 2nd floor. We picked up some yummy donuts on the way over so we took our blanket and had our breakfast on the beach which was fun...:-) After the breakfast we headed to Huntington Beach to show cool waves and surfers and to get some beach time in which they never get to do since Nagano is surrounded by a bunch of mountains... The waves were pretty strong so even Dave didn't go in and we built a sand castle/fort and created a wading pool for Madison to kick water in...:-)
２週間目の火曜日は、まず私達が前に住んでいたマンションをじいじとばあばに紹介する事にしました。マンションの裏庭の砂浜で買って来たとってもおいしいドーナツを食べた後、ハンティントンビーチというサーフで有名なビーチへ遊びに行く事にしました。

ハンティントンビーチの少し前にある犬を連れて来れるドッグビーチです。波は強過ぎて結局誰も入らなかったけど、マディソンは十分砂浜で楽しそうに遊んでいました：）

For lunch we went back to Seal Beach to Crab Shack... We could probably took them to more authentic seafood restaurant but we thought they would have a nice lunch menu which they didn't so we probably will never return again... We shared a Crab Nacho for appetizer:-)

海で遊んだ後お昼を食べに行ったのは、クラブシャックと言うシーフードのレストラン。今私達が食べているのは蟹のナチョス：）

One of the days they were here we got 4 egg plants and a green pepper! We enjoyed the egg plants but...

この日はこんなに茄子が採れました！ピーマンはマディソンにこの後すぐ食べられました

On Wednesday Dave and Jiiji built a sand box for Madison! Yay! They also created a seating area... Madison absolutely loves it and the next day I believe she played all day in it! I must have talked about this in our previous post but they also built a Strawberry box in the front. My Dad is also handy around the house so you know what happens to those handy people right? We totally take advantage of them! Thank you Dad:-)

水曜日、じいじとデイブはマディソンの砂場を作りました。入れ物も全部手作り：）ちゃんと横に座る所もあるんです！　マディソンは大喜びで、楽しそうに毎日遊んでいるよ：）その他にデイブとじいじが作った物と言えば、イチゴの箱。写真が見つからないので、ちょっとお待ちください：）その他、ヒマワリを植え直したり、家の周りの事をして貰いました：）ありがとう〜！

On Saturday morning we went to a local nursery to pick out a tree to celebrate our new house... 

土曜日の朝、家族みんなで記念樹を買いに近くの専門店へ。

Since it's coming from my parents we picked out a tangerine tree called Satsuma:-)

やっぱりじいじとばあばに買って貰うなら、日本の果物が良いかと思ってこのサツキみかんに決定しました！これは家を買った記念の記念樹：）

After that we headed to the Church building for the last day of VBS. This was our congregations very first attempt at VBS but a huge success! Madison had been going the last two days with Dave since he was teaching one of the classes and she had been having a great time:-) Dave asked Madison's teacher if my parents could sit in her class so they can see how much Madison enjoys her class and we got an okay so off they went...

First all the kids get to sit together and sing songs... My parents are sitting with Madison's class since she was having one of those off moments and I was busy taking pictures.

記念樹を買って家に帰った後向かったのは教会。木金土と教会では子供達用の夏の特別教室がやっていてマディソンは毎日楽しく通っていました。最後のこの日は特別にマディソンの教室にじいじとばあばを参観日させて貰う事が出来ました：）今子供達は学年事一緒に座って歌を歌っている所です。

After the class we all gathered again in the auditorium to sing a few more songs... We sang This little light of mine and all the kids got to hold glow sticks... and apparently some kids got the big responsibilities of holding flash lights... 

教室の後また最後に集まって歌を歌いました。最後は子供達みんな懐中電灯を使って、”闇の仲にある灯りになれ”みたいな歌を歌いました。

After the VBS we were going to take my parents to El Torito or something for lunch but they requested that we go back to Five Guys so we did... I guess we didn't know how much they enjoyed peeling and eating peanuts! We all try to keep up with the super speed at which Madison eats her peanuts...

その後向かったのは、ファイブガイズ！じいじとばあばの要望を聞いて来たのが２回目です：）このレストランはすっごいおいしいハンバーガーとポテトがあるんだけど、その中でもじいじとばあばがとっても気に入ったのはピーナツの食べほうだい！マディソンが食べるのとっても早いから大変：）

The next day after the morning service we took off for our Las Vegas adventure! We were originally thinking we wouldn't do Las Vegas but some good deals on hotel rooms finally convinced us to visit...:-)

その次の日は、教会の後直ぐにラスベガスに向けて出発！本当は計画してなかったんだけど、急遽せっかくだからとホテルを取って２泊３日で行く事にしました：）

During the 4 hour drive there were two of us that got a really nice nap...

マディソンとばあばのお昼寝の時間を使って、４時間のドライブの後無事到着しました。

Dave wanted to try the Flamingo since they are known for family friendly pools and less party... Although we would not recommend this hotel to anyone or come back to stay in the future (editors note: I would come back...Madison loved the waterslide and you can't beat the price for being in the middle of the strip, but I guess I would be coming back alone :-), or just with Madison :-) we had nice pool view rooms that were connected and we can't complain about the prices we got.

子供向けのプールがあると聞いたこのホテルはフラミンゴホテルと言います。この写真はプールからの景色です。私達の泊まった部屋が見えるかも。

And as you know Las Vegas is in the desert so everything was 200% hotter and wow the air was soo heavy with heat! not humid since that would have killed us so we were very thankful that it was just a dry heat. We tried to stay indoors as much we could...

知ってはいたんだけど、ラスベガスはロングビーチに比べも出来ないぐらい暑い!!　なので、出来るだけクーラーの効いた建物の中で観光見物：）

It may not look like it but it was soooo hot!!

湿気は無いんだけど、とにかく暑い!!

Since we knew we would spend a whole day here on Monday we decided to do the 24 hour meal plan for $45 each(Madison was FREE!!!!) where you get to eat at any of participating 6 buffet restaurants which includes the one in Flamingo and 4 that are easily walkable... This way we eliminate having to think of where to eat every time we are hungry and we can eat whatever we feel like and will be easy for my mom who doesn't eat meat. 1 place(Rio) was way too far I don't understand why they are participating but we heard they have a really good buffet... Well we were very happy with the 4 restaurants we tried so we have no regrets! For breakfast we went to Paris and this is where we started our 24 hour all you can eat Las Vegas style...:-)

次の日朝ご飯を食べに向かったのはパリ！今日は一日中ベガスで見学なので、２４時間バイキング出来るというのを一人４５ドルで買う事にしました。そのお陰でお腹が空いたらいつでも飲んだり食べたり：）どこで何を食べようかーっていちいち決めるのがたいへんだから、バイキングプランを買って本当によかった〜！結局４食とおやつを一人４５ドルで食べれるなんて安〜い！しかもマディソンはタダでした！すごい！

Dave had to go get some change for tip and once he left the line to enter was crazy long so he decided to stay outside... Good thing he was done eating.
一回出たら行列で入れなくなってしまったデイブ。食べ終わった後だから良かったんだけどね。

The night before while we were eating dinner at Caesar's Palace Dave's flip flop broke which was really funny and he ended up walking bare foot back to our hotel after searching for H&M and not being successful at it and also my sandals that Steve and Linda got for me in Spain started to fall apart from over use so I had to pick up a cheap back up flip flops. Madison picked up my bag from the cashier and carried it for me but doesn't she totally look good carrying her shopping bags!? I'm gonna have so much fun shopping with her!

その後私のサンダルが壊れかけたので安いビーチサンダルを探しに隣にあるプラネットハリウッドへ買い物に。マディソンが袋を持ってくれました。将来こんな風に買い物好きになりそうだな〜！

On Tuesday morning after we got our breakfast buffet in(our 24 hours carried us over to the following morning! Yipee! Our plan totally worked!) we left Vegas and went back home... It's been two years since I last saw my parents and a lot longer for Dave and such a quick 2 and a half weeks but we had so much fun and can't wait till we can see each other again... Hopefully longer next time Lord willing:-) 

ラスベガスを火曜日の朝後にして、４時間後に無事家に到着。少し休憩した後、最後にターゲットで買い物をして、パネラで夕食を食べてじいじとばあばは日本帰国の準備の始め：(　本当にあっという間の２週間半だったけど、２年ぶりに会えて本当に良かった〜！マディソンも前に会った時よりとっても大きくなっちゃったね：）また会えるのを楽しみにしていま〜す！

Jiiji(G-pa) and Baaba(G-ma) Time!!!!!!! Part1/じいじとばあばが来たーの巻!!!!!! パート１

July 28th has finally come!! Madison woke up excited to go pick Jiiji and Baaba up and wanted to dress up for them with her bunny ears:-)

待ちに待った７月２８日がやっと来ました〜!!　マディソンも張り切ってうさぎの耳を付けてお洒落をして空港に行く準備オッケ〜!!

 

Just like what we did for g-pa and g-ma Klein Madison made a special poster for Jiiji and Baaba... She is getting really good at tracing...

私の書いた日本語をちゃんとなぞってお出迎えポスターも完成です...

Today was Dave's very important Capstone presentation day but as you've read in my previous post he came home just in time so he picked us up and off we went...
大学院の最後の授業からデイブが時間より早く帰って来れたので、親子３人揃って空港へ迎えに行く事が出来ました...

 

We probably waited over half an hour so we were starting to worry but they are here!!!!! 

Jiiji and Baaba time!!!!

来ないなーと思いながら待っていたら、来たーーーーーー！！！！！

じいじとばあばだーーー！！！！！

It's been over two years and Madison got shy for about 10 seconds but she warmed up pretty fast as usual... Good job Madison:-)

２年ぶりの再会に最初の１０秒間は恥ずかしがっていたけど...直ぐに仲良し：）

Baaba was soooo happy to be able to see Madison in person again...

ばあばはマディソンの顔が見れてとっても嬉しそう...

After we get home we took a short break then time to see all the goodies they brought from Japan!!
家に着いた後ちょっと休憩した後はやっぱり、お土産の時間〜!!

There are so many other things that we got that I didn't take pictures of but we now have a life time supply of Anpanman tooth brushes for Madison...(everyone kept buying them individually without knowing so that was funny...) Thank you so much family~!

この他にもいつも通り沢山のお土産を岩井家と河西家の家族から貰いました〜！

どうもありがとう！！：）マディソンは多分アンパンマンの歯ブラシ一生分あるな〜：）

Baaba accidentally mixed two sets of powders that belonged to two different learning candy making toys so we ended up with a weird mixture but Madison didn't seem to be disturbed and enjoyed eating all of it...:-)

 ねるねるね〜るねとグミの木の粉を混ぜてしまって(ばあば作)、変な食べ物を作ってしまったけど、気にせず一生懸命食べていたマディソン：）

Before going to bed Baaba got to read the ten little lady bugs(in Japanese) to Madison...
夜寝る前にばあばに絵本を読んでもらいました...

First week that they were here I didn't take time off so not many pictures were taken but I know the Olympic games, walk to the playground, visiting the duck pond and daily swim in the pool kept them busy along with getting over the jet lag...
The best part of the week was that Baaba made dinner for us and Dave was especially happy for the karaage(japanese fried chicken) and curry she made... He couldn't get enough of it and I know he wanted her to make more... and I got to eat my mom's cooking which I miss so yeah I couldn't get enough of it either...:-)
最初の一週間は私が仕事に行ったので、ほとんど写真は無しです。でも、沢山写真を撮っていたお父さん達から写真が届き次第特別号を書くので読んで下さーい：）丁度じいじとばあばの到着と同時に始まったオリンピックを見たり、近くの公園に行ったり、アヒルと鴨にえさをあげに行ったり、毎日プールに入って遊んだりとのんびり過ごしたようです：）
この一週間はほとんどの夕ご飯はお母さんが作ってくれたので、デイブはお母さんの唐揚げとカレーを大感激しながら食べていました。私も懐かしいお母さんの手料理が食べれてうれしかったよ〜！

As you know we have so many plants and trees to take care of and our daily watering is very important so while Dave and I go do that Jiiji and Baaba are often on Madison duty and while they try to figure out what each other is saying they somehow came up with new games... One of which is called "toss the Barba papa to each other while yelling out the name!" game which Madison got a huge kick out of and was laughing endlessly while playing it...:-) or Madison would make Jiiji take a nap by putting a blanket over him then go somewhere and come back to check on him... Baaba's phone has a setting where when she opens it up 3 or 4 pictures of Madison show up on the screen one after another and she loved seeing her baby pictures and kept doing it...:-)

毎日2回デイブと私は木や野菜の水くれをしている間に、３人で新しいゲームを作って遊んでいました...
これがその一つ、“バーバパパを投げながら投げる相手の名前を叫ぶゲーム” ...：）マディソンはとーっても気に入ってケラケラ大笑い：）
その他のゲームは、じいじにブランケットを掛けて無理矢理お昼寝をさせると言うゲーム：）あと、自分の部屋にじいじを閉じ込めたりしていた事もあったかも...　ばあばのケータイを何回も閉じたり開いたりして自分の赤ちゃんの時の写真にうっとりしたり...　
エリーもじいじとばあばが来るなりじいじの横に座ったりばあばに食べ物貰いに行ったり２人の訪れを楽しんでいる様子でした。

 

Finally Friday came! so we took them to Yogurtland to celebrate... I guess we paid for it and when we started to eat my parents kept saying how expensive these things are and not knowing why they were saying that I told them that's because you put huge fruits in it, etc... but then when they told me the total was over $20 I told them there is no way it cost us that much and had Dave fish out the receipt... What they thought was the total price was the total weight and I believe it was like $7 total so we got a good laugh out of it...:-) and yes they loved Yogurtland...:-)

とうとう金曜日の仕事が終わり、その夜はヨーグルトランドと言うお店をデザートに紹介。ここでは１５種類ぐらいあるフローズンヨーグルトの中で自分で食べたいのを好きなだけカップに入れてその上に好きなトッピングを乗せて、重さを計ってお金を払うと言うお店。２０ドルもかかったと思ってビックリしながら食べていたけど実はそれは合計の重さ(２０オンス)で、実は５人で７ドルぐらいだった：）

The next day is our BIG Disneyland day! We left our house around 7 and a half hour later we were waiting to ride our tram...

そして次の日の土曜日は朝７時にディズニーランドに向けて出発進行!!

３０分後に駐車場に到着で、これからトラムに乗る所です。

 

First we went into California Adventure because the Radiator Spring Racers' fast pass sells out by 8am for the day and we really wanted Jiiji and us to experience it without having to wait in line for hours... The line was already long, but Dave stood in it for us and the rest of us got to go through an empty park to the Monster's Inc ride which had absolutely no wait at all... And always take pictures where we can...:-)

まず最初にカリフォルニアアドベンチャーへ入って、デイブがカーズランドのレーサーへのファーストパスの列に並んでくれている間に、私達はモンスターズインクに乗ったりトローリーへ乗ったり。記念撮影は欠かさずに撮らないとね：）

Once Dave was able to meet up with us we headed to Disneyland to Fantasyland.

デイブが無事ファーストパスを取り終わった後すぐにディズニーランドへ入って、ファンタジーランドへ直行。

On our way we stopped to take a nice family picture in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle:-)

 そこへ行く途中にみんなまだ元気が有り余っているうちに眠れる森の美女のお城の前で家族写真を一枚：）

Since Baaba and I don't like anything that goes in a circle the guys took the princess out for a spin:-)

They were moving pretty fast but my genius camera was able to capture a pretty nice picture!

 すごい！回っているのに綺麗に撮れた！

Next up was the Casey's Circus Train thing right next to Dumbo... Usually this ride has a long line so we jumped at it when we knew we could make the next group... Off to a relaxing train ride:-)

その後は直ぐ横にあるケーシーのサーカス列車に乗って小さな旅：）

After that we headed to Toon Town and right away Madison spotted Goofy and wanted to go say hi... so we did...

その次ぎに行ったのはトゥーンタウン、早速そこで見つけたグーフィーと一緒に記念撮影。

Madison is excitedly leading Jiiji to the Roller Coaster...

After we said bye to Mickey we headed to Autopia and got ourselves fast passes then hopped on the train to kill some time before our fast pass time started...

ミッキーに会った後トゥモローランドに向かいオートピアのファーストパスを取った後、列車に乗ってディズニーランドを一回り、ファーストパスの時間を丁度潰す事が出来ました：）

When we were waiting to go forward at the end Madison peaked her pretty head so I wouldn't miss the cool photo opportunity... Can you spot Dave!?

After Autopia we went back to California Adventure to attempt nap time and to take a coffee break but she wasn't able to with all the excitement so we gave up and headed to the Little Mermaid...

オートピアの後はカリフォルニアアドベンチャーに行って一時休憩/マディソンのお昼寝を試みる、が寝れそうに無かったので諦めて移動を開始する事に...

After the Ariel ride it was time for us to try out the racer! Dave and I took Jiiji first since we can't really try to convince Baaba to try it if we don't know what it is... IT WAS REALLY COOL!! So after a lot of convincing Baaba decided to give it a try...

In this picture my parents are in the far side of car in the front... I'm glad Jiiji got to go twice thanks to Madison not being tall enough but old enough to need a pass...:-)

アリエルの後に待ちに待ったレーサーの時間！まずデイブとじいじと私で３人で挑戦しました：）凄い面白い！最初はヤダって言っていたばあばだけど、せっかくだからって何とか説得する事に成功しました。

だから、このしゃしんはじいじとばあばが奥の車の前の座席に座っている所...

When we were waiting for my parents to come out Dave spotted someone... Justin Bieber (we think)!! I don't really care for this boy but someone may be a big fan of him so I snapped some pictures:-)

そして、じいじとばあばを迎えに行くと、何とそこを歩いていたのはジャスティンビーバーだった！私はどうでも良いけど、誰か好きかなーと思って写真を撮ってみました：）

 

I guess my sister's family watched a special on the Cars Land in Japan and wanted us to bring back this cone souvenir cup so my parents got to drink its' contents first:-)

さやかからの注文で買ったコーンの形の飲み物入れに入っていたコーラをじいじとばあばが頑張って飲んでいたよ：）

 

Another going in circle kind of ride so my mom and I got to sit out plus once it started moving I had hard time following them since they moved kind of weird but I got the beginning part!

これもくるくる回り過ぎるからばあばと私はコーンソーダを買いに行ったり、ビデオを撮ろうとしてみたり、でも動きが速すぎて難しかった！

We got to see the Pixars Parade for the first time! They feature water spraying to help us cool down and the facial expression of Madison as she awaits for the water spray were much more exciting to look at!!

After the splashy parade we went back to Disneyland once again for the Soundsational Parade. We were early enough to secure a bench so we sat there and relaxed and my parents got to go shopping a bit...

パレードの後はまたディズニーランドに戻って、ミッキーの花畑の前で写真を撮った後、ミッキーのサウンドセーショナルパレードの時間までお土産の買い物をしたり、おやつを食べたり...

 

After the parade we went to the World of Disney store and Jiiji and Baaba got Madison a princess Bell doll which she picked out...

パレードの後はダウンタウンディズニーのお店で、お買い物：）

マディソンはばあばとじいじにベルのお人形を買ってもらって大喜びです。

 

When we were checking out the sales guy asked Madison for her autograph since she is a princess and I guess they have a special princess autograph book and to my amazement Madison took her time and scribbled her name...:-)

お店の人にプリンセスのサインを頼まれて一生懸命時間をかけてサインをしたマディソン：）凄い上手に“何か”を書いていた...；）

 

 

 

After all this it was almost time for our 8:00 dinner reservation(late I know but only time available) at Goofey's Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel for Character Dining... Before we were seated we had a photo shoot with the chef Goofy...

買い物の後ディズニーランドホテルへ到着して、そこで予約をしてあったグーフィーのキッチンでキャラクターダイニングの夕食をしました：）レストランに入る前にグーフィーと記念撮影...

 

 

Buffet style dinner was much better than we had expected and worth the price...:-) And the characters were all popular ones so I was very surprised... And Madison did great! She knew the name of each character and was happy to see all of them:-)

バイキング形式でご飯を食べている間いろんなディズニーキャラに会う事が出来ます...：）しかもご飯は思っていたよりも結構おいしくてびっくり！

 

When Chip came around for the second time Madison was in the bathroom so Chip waited for her by holding Madison's Mickey...

After the delicious dinner we got to ride the monorail for the first time and went back into Disneyland this way... When we got out the fireworks were just starting out so we got to watch them from a private platform of the monorail without the crowd... Since Madison didn't take her nap this is where she went down for the night... She did great though:-)

夕ご飯の後モノレールに乗ってディズニーランドに戻ると、丁度花火が始まりました。でも、お昼寝をしなかったマディソンは疲れて一足先におやすみです...

Fantasmic started around 10:30pm...

ファンタズミックの始まり始まり...

After Fantasmic we were exhausted but we didn't want to fight the crowd so stayed around and my parents got to go ride the Haunted Mansion and the Pirates of the Caribbean together for the first time in a really long time... By the time we left the park it was after midnight but I have to tell you it was a really fun 16 hours we spent at the park... And that will be our record for a long time... 16 hours... Who wants to top that:-)

夜１０時半開始のファンタズミックを観た後１１時頃、結構空いたディズニーランドを楽しむじいじとばあば：）２人でとっても久しぶりにホーンテッドマンションに乗って来たりカリブの海賊に乗ったりと結局ディズニーランドを後にしたのは夜の１２時過ぎ、今までの記録を超える何と１６時間もディズニーランドリゾートで過ごす事が出来ました！みんな家に帰るなりクタクタでベッド直行、でも本当に楽しかったなー：）
