So yesterday, March 3rd, was Girl's Day(Hina-matsuri) in Japan. Sometime in February we put out a Girl's Day doll display called "Ohina-Sama" and it looks like the below picture... It consists of Emperor, Empress, three maids, five musicians, carriage in traditional court dress from Heian period. I was able to find a picture of one we had growing up:-) Actually my dad decided to put it out this year but not sure if it's because he missed seeing it or his youngest daughter is still looking for someone special...:-p As soon as Hina-matsuri is over we take down the display because there is a superstition that if you leave it out too long it results in late marriage for the daughters. I'm planning on leaving her dolls out for a while so she won't leave us too quickly!

A prince and a princess typically look like this.

And you can spend a lot of money if you want to get your daughter a really nice set, this one would probably cost about $2000 or more... but us Kleins didn't want to spend that much plus we live in a tiny box and no room to display something huge like that... So I found out that Tokyo Disneyland sells $100 Ohinasama and asked my dear sister to get it and ship it for Madison:-) And it's here!
今年はお雛様を飾っただけでちゃんと雛祭りのお祝いをしなかったけど来年はちゃんと出来れば良いなー...:-)
We weren't able to celebrate it 100% Hina-matsuri style with all the Hina-matsuri foods but hopefully next year is the year...:-)
