Our 20 and a half month old

Madison is becoming more and more of a miss chatter box lately... And I just read babycenter and I guess that's what 21 month old's are supposed to be doing so our girl is right on schedule...:-)

Words she says are... (I'm putting "!" after every word because she really says these words with such an excitement:-)
Stop! or Stop it!(Sadly this is her first word...:-)
Please!
No!
Banana!(but it sounds more like Yaya:-)
Water!(or Wa!)
Ellie!
Hooray!
Hi!
Bye! (actually timed well now for people entering and leaving elevator)
Won Won!(Doggie for Japanese)
Knaw Knaw!(Kitties for Japanese)
Daddy!(Your welcome Daddy!)
I did it!!(We have to get a film of her saying this soon...)
Paci(Okay, she says DaDaDa but that's exactly what she means)
Fish!
Wow!
Yup/Yeah!
Blueberry(or Blue, Blue)!
Ready!!
Atsui!(Hot!)
Oh Dear!

Yup, she is definitely saying more English words despite my effort but she understands so much in Japanese so I guess Japanese words are harder to pronounce!? and now I'm curious to know what our first sentences/words were... I bet it wasn't "Stop it!":-)

Also she can point to parts of her face when I ask for Mimi(Ears), Me(Eyes), Atama(Head), Hana(Nose), Kuchi(Mouth),etc... We will be working on parts in English soon:-)

Her favorite books right now are...
Potty by Leslie Patricelli
No No Yes Yes by Leslie Patricelli
The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton
Moo, BAA, LALALA! by Sandra Boynton
Yuletide Ice cube Fair by Veggietales people:-)
Doctor Maisy by Lucy Cousins(has English and Japanese translations)
Maisy's Pool by Lucy Cousins(has English and Japanese translations)
Duck & Goose It's time for Christmas! by Tad Hills
Color My World by Dandi Daley Mackall
What's the Weather? by Scholastic
I Love You Through and Through by Bernadette Rossetti-Shustak
How Much Do I Love You? by Marion Dane Bauer

A CLARIFICATION: To those who received a Christmas News Letter from Steve and Linda: We understand the letter might have made you think Steve and Linda are against Madison growing up Bilingual, but You may be relieved to know that's not what they meant, they are supportive about Madison being able to speak both English and Japanese languages, they were just attempting to make a joke about us ditching the East Coast (which is currently enjoying 24 inches of snow) and moved to Sunny California (where we spent yesterday on the beach and in the pool...SORRY :-)

BONUS PICS:
View out our window
Madison lounging in her toy stroller... She would get herself stuck by buckling herself into the seat. One time she walked over to me teary eyed with her doll stroller attached to her butt and oh it was really cute...:-)

Madison and Ellie share the bed...again.

  1. Thanks for clearing up that comment made in our Christmas newsletter. We are, of course, thrilled that Madison is bi-lingual. Not so thrilled that she's living thousands of miles away. However, California is a very nice place to visit anytime of the year esp ,though, when CT has more than 2 ft of snow on the ground and more on the way.
