Farewell to summer!!/

So that's it...the summer is officially over...and what a summer it was!!! I made peace with the fact that I must get back into work-mode tomorrow as we took one last family stroll along Jones Beach this morning...the bit of cloud cover in the morning must have kept the crowds away because we almost had the beach to ourselves...it was very nice...and it allowed Madison to get out of her bugaboo a bit more...even if she was a bit camera shy...

I have learned lately that Madison is fun to put up on my shoulders...

Madison also got to take her first actual nap on the beach
(outside her bugaboo)...

When the sun came out a bit we made sure Madison was fully covered...
except for one renegade foot...

On the way home I got dropped off at Target to purchase my
mode of transportation for the year...

I am really looking forward to biking to work this year...
I think it will be even quicker then taking the train!!

So now I will be releasing the reigns of the blog back to my lovely wife, at least during the week...as I really won't have much Madison related information to pass on when I am working and only get to see her a few hours a day...insert tear drop here...but I do realize how fortunate I am to have gotten to spend every minute of the last 9 weeks together watching her grow...Anna and I even caught what we are calling her first official laugh yesterday...it was very cute and something I will take with me and recall fondly when dealing with my students this year...Madison has also gotten very good at smiling at us when she wakes up from a nap or gets done with a feeding...precious, precious thing a toothless smile with her tongue sticking out through the middle...I must be honest that I entered this summer a little resentful of our new little miracle because I thought she was going to ruin my summer, but I can honestly say I have just finished the best summer of my life!! Fall, you have big shoes to fill :-)

  1. Awe, goodbye summer! Isn't it funny how before you have kids you watch other people with kids and think, "Wow, what a pain!" and then once you have them, you can't imagine how to have fun without them. I'm glad you got to spend the summer with your little sweetie pie!

My word verification is "hating" maybe it's 'hating that summer is gone'

  2. Yes, son all good things must come to an end. You have some great memories to cherish with your little girl that not many dads get to experience. It is amazing how much joy they can add to everything in life. Hope the school year begins well for you.
