Little Tokyo, the San Diego Zoo and an Eruption/リトル東京、サンディエゴ動物園、と噴出

Saturday we took our first trip into L.A. and visited Little Tokyo...

土曜日、初めてロスにあるリトル東京に行って来ました...

It was okay, but I don't think it was in a very good part of L.A. and Mitsuwa kind of scratches that itch for Anna anyways, so I don't think we will be in any rush to go back...where we do want to go however is where we drove by on the way home which was the Grauman's Chinese Theater and the Hollywood Walk of Fame area and then we passed Rodeo Drive as well, but Madison was sleeping so we figured we would just come back sometime soon.
リトル東京はそんなに良くはなかったけど、あんまり良い所に無かったからかな!?　ミツワマーケットがあればアンナは大丈夫だと思うから急いで戻って来る必要は無いみたい...でも帰りがけに通ったグラウマンチャイニーズシアターとハリウッドウォークオブフェームと有名なロデオドライブには、マディソンが起きている時にまた来るつもりです...

This statue was outside Anna's school as well...it is of a boy who studied while he worked...I love that you can see Anna taking the picture...and I am also wondering if people like to shoot at the statue...can you find the bullet holes?
アンナの通った永明小か永明中にあった石像をリトル東京で見つけました...名前が出て来ないみたいだけど...写真を撮っているアンナが石像に反射しているのが面白いね。あれは鉄砲で空いた穴なのかな!?

Sunday we went to worship at the Studebaker Road Church of Christ which is 17 minutes from our place...this was our first week to make Bible class and we were disappointed to find out Madison won't be old enough to join a class for another 8 months, so I was ready to run away, but Anna had us go to the Young Adult class with Madison and we met a really nice couple that likes to be active and doesn't live far away from our place so we were really excited and will probably be calling Studebaker Road home as their worship seems to be very scriptural and they don't mind Madison in class although it is a bummer she won't have her own for a while.
日曜日に家から１７分ぐらいの所にある教会に行ってみました...この日はバイブルクラスに行ったのが初めての日でマディソンが行けるクラスがあると聞いていたのに、行ってみたら２歳からだからまだ駄目らしい...なーんだ、がっかり...僕はさっさと違う教会に行くつもりでいたんだけど、アンナに説得されて若い大人用のバイブルクラスにマディソンと一緒に参加する事にしました。そこで僕たちに似た運動が好きな夫婦に会う事が出来て、住んでいる場所も結構近いのでたぶんこの教会のメンバーになると思います。マディソンが行けるクラスが無いのは残念だけど僕達の行ったクラスの人は、マディソンを連れて来ても全然平気と言ってくれたので後８ヶ月頑張れば、マディソンも晴れて子供用のクラスに参加予定：）

So we also went to second service on Sunday and as usual Madison fell asleep just before we got there, so since we had to wake her up she did not behave well at all...then after service it was 6:30 so we decided to eat out and try a Thai restaurant that had good reviews...it was yummy, but we didn't get to enjoy it as our reward for trying to get Madison to sit in her high chair was her getting overly upset and projectile (and I mean projectile) vomiting a lake into Anna's lap (sorry no pictures)...it was incredible!! We took the rest of our yummy food to go...
夕方のミサにも行ってみる事にしました。でもいつもの通りそこまで向かっている途中に寝始めてしまったマディソンを無理矢理起こしたらやっぱりご機嫌斜め...良い子に座っている事が出来ませんでした...ミサが終わったのが６時半頃なので外食して帰る事にして、評判が良さそうなタイ料理のレストランに行ってみる事に...頼んだ料理はとてもおいしくてほのぼのしていたのに、椅子に座っているのが疲れてしまったマディソンはいきなり泣きわめき始め慌ててアンナに抱っこして貰ったのは良いんだけど、その途端マディソンの口からゲーッの滝！今までのマディソンのゲーッの中で一番ひどいゲーッ！アンナの服やマディソン自身のワンピ、そしてソファと床中ゲーだらけ！慌てて食べ物を持ち帰り用の容器に入れてもらって、適当に床を拭いて、沢山ナプキンを使った後、レストランを後にしました...これから当分はお持ち帰りの食事に限るです...

Today we awoke and decided it was a good day to head down to the San Diego Zoo and get our membership for the year...(it was either that or me going to my school and getting ready for the year) so 1 hour and 45 minutes later we were pulling in to the FREE parking lot at the San Diego Zoo...I still can't believe it was free to park! And for $89 the three of us can now get in free all year long to both the Zoo and the Wild Animal Park (which is about twenty minutes closer to us)!
今日、朝起きた後サンディエゴ動物園に行く日和だなーと決めました...なので、持って行くお昼を用意した後出発！１時間４５分後に無料のサンディエゴ動物園の駐車場に到着です。駐車代が無料なんて今も信じられないけど、たったの８９ドルでこれから１年間この動物園と２０分ぐらい近い所にあるもう一つの動物園に行き放題です！すごい!!

The Zoo was as amazing as everyone says it is and it was really fun to see Madison interacting more with the animals then she ever has before...she was pointing at everything and was really engaged the whole time.
この動物園はやっぱりとても有名なだけあってすごい！マディソンも始めから最後まで動物を指差したり声を上げたりと今までの“見てるだけ”とは全然違うリアクション！見てて面白かったです：）

We started by enjoying the yummy lunches we had packed...I am making some kind of chewing face, but Madison was so cute I just had to include it...
動物園についてまず持って来たお昼を食べました...噛み中の僕の顔は変なんだけどマディソンがとてもカワイイので写真を載せる事にしました。

美味しいパンとホットケーキのレシピ!/Dinner Roll and The Best Pancake recipe!

アリソンからこの前作ったターキーバーガーのパンのレシピの注文が来たので、ここでそれの紹介とクライン家でいつも使うとーっても美味しいホットケーキのレシピを紹介します：）
As per Alyson's request I would like to share my dinner roll recipe and a buttermilk pancake recipe just because we LOVE this recipe and wanted everyone to try it! Dinner roll recipe is a Japanese recipe so hopefully you have a handy little scale in your kitchen:-)

パンのレシピはクックパッドで見つけたこれ...
Dinner Rolls: I would double the recipe next time...
Bread Flour 200g
Active Dry Yeast 4g
Warm Water 86g(I might try milk here next time...)
Salt 3g
Sugar 30g
Butter 30g(softened)
1 Egg

You put everything in your mixer but pour the warm water over the yeast... and follow normal bread making process that you know:-)

ホットケーキのレシピはこれ：いつも２倍にして使います！
Buttermilk Pancakes: I ALWAYS double the recipe!
1 cup all purpose flour(sometimes I use whole wheat flour instead...)
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 beaten egg
1 cup buttermilk(you don't ever want to substitute this with regular milk! You can make buttermilk though with milk and 1 tbsp lemon juice though... or just use 1 cup of yogurt)
2 tbsp canola oil

So fluffy and so yummy! Enjoy melt in your mouth pancakes:-)

The Unwelcome Visitor and Swimsuits/招かれない客と水着

So we are back to blogging from our "Ocean Lounge" and I have a huge bug behind me that is on the move so I am going to make this super quick...man the waves are crashing beautifully outside right now...must be the full moon...Anna is upstairs with Madison finishing our curry for dinner tonight so that is another reason to make this quick...but seriously the bug is huge, some sort of beetle or something...freaky!!
ま たインターネットを無くした僕達は２階にあるオーシャンラウンジからのブログ書きです...でも後ろに巨大な無視がうろついているので今日は急いで... 今夜は満月かな、波がでかい！アンナとマディソンはアパートで夕ご飯のカレーの準備中です：）だから、急いで戻るぞー！

So speaking of freaky...yesterday we noticed a bird flying past our window and landing on a neighbors balcony...that's weird we thought and then Anna said that I better close the bathroom window (as we have full length windows that we always leave wide open for the breezes) and I thought to myself what does that crow want with a window sill when it can have a balcony...well I was wrong and not two minutes later we here this loud cawing and Ellie is barking at the bathroom window so we investigate and see the crow staring right back at us...well we freak out and I am like can I throw a pillow will it fly out and not in and so I did and it flew out and I then took my lovely wife's advice and we shut down the place...we then proceeded to watch that crow come back many times and visit our closed window...so we took pictures of course...come to find out our neighbor who has lived in the building for 12 years said that that has never happened before...so we are back to leaving our windows open and hoping we don't return to an unwelcome visitor someday!!
変な物と言えば...昨日窓の外を変な泣き声がする鳥が通ったと思ったら隣の人のベランダの端に止まった奇妙 なカラス...(家には窓際の壁は全部窓だからいつも全開して風邪の通りを良くし涼しく暮らしているんです。)アンナが窓閉めた方が良いんじゃないと言っ たにも関わらず、入って来る分けないと窓を開けたままにしていたら、案の定トイレの窓の直ぐ外に止まったらしくエリーが警戒して吠え始めさあ困った！こっ ちをジーッと見ていたカラスがそれよりアパートに入って来ないように枕を投げてなんとか追い返し、アンナの言った通りに全部の窓を閉めてそれから何度か 戻って来たカラスの写真をブログ用に撮って置きました...後で１２年間隣の部屋に住んでいた人に聞いたらカラスが窓の外に来た事なんて初めてらしい、だ から免れない客がもう２度と戻って来ない事を願いながら窓全開の日々に戻ったクライン家です。

Second, since we are in the pool everyday and it was the end of season clearance sales even in California Madison now has a collection of bathing suits which we will show to you now...
次のトピック、ここに住み始めてからほとんど毎日プールに行く機会があるの で、季節末のセールを使ってマディソンに沢山水着を買う事が出来ました...なのでこーんなに水着持っていまーす...

Lastly, we are happy to report that the chef is back...here she shows that she can make Turkey burgers look and taste as good on the West Coast as they did on the East Coast!!

Turkey Burger Recipe: Mix everything together and cook:-)
1 1/2lb Ground Turkey
1/2 cup Grated Gruyere Cheese
4 Scallions, thinly sliced
1/4 cup dried bread crumbs
1/4 cup Dijon Mustard
1 Garlic Clove, minced
Coarse Salt and Pepper

Dog Beach and the Belated Birthday Gift/ドッグビーチと遅くなった誕生日プレゼント

So yesterday we lost our internet connection and the technician won't be out until Tuesday, so lucky for us the lobby WiFi is working, but we have to combine a few days now...so here is what we have been up to...
Most excitingly, we got the girls licensed so they could officially visit Dog Beach!! Dog Beach is a stretch of beach about a mile and a half from our Apartment that is reserved for Dogs to enjoy off leash...Ellie and Coco weren't ready to ride any waves, but they did pretty well for their first time and really seemed to enjoy the beach... They even made a new friend:-)
えっと、昨日インターネットがおかしくなってしまって来週の火曜日にならないと修理しに来てくれないので今、幸運な事に２階のロビーにあるワイファイを使ってここ２、３日起こった事を書いていまーす。
とっても嬉しい事にエリーとココのロングビーチでの登録が済んだので、晴れてアパートから約２キロ離れた所にあるドッグビーチに初めて連れて行く事が出来ました。そこでは散歩ヒモ無しで走り回れるからハッピーなワンちゃん達でいっぱい...大きなワンちゃん達のように海に入って泳ぐ気はまだ無さそうだけど初めて(エリーは２回目の海)にしては２匹とも上出来、とても気に入ってくれたみたい...早速新しい友達も作りました：）

The other big news is that Gma and Gpa's Birthday gift arrived (only three months late)...okay not really...you see they had purchased Madison a very nice playhouse for her first birthday, but when we decided to move across country we had to return it and pocket the money...until spending it on this play kitchen...thanks Gma and Gpa!!
他の大きなニュースと言えば、スティーブおじいちゃんとリンダおばあちゃんからの誕生日プレゼントが３ヶ月遅れて届いた事...うそ、うそ...本当はマディソンの１歳の誕生日にとてもいいプレイハウスを買ってくれたんだけど、遠距離の引っ越しをするためにそれをお店に返品したんです...でも、やっと新しい家に落ち着いたので早速そのお金でプレイキッチンを購入させて貰いました...ありがとね、コネチのおじいちゃんおばあちゃん!!

Saturday saw the Red Bull Flugtag come to Rainbow Harbor in downtown Long Beach. Flugtag is that crazy event where people build ridiculous things and then run with them off a pier and see how far they can fly...we walked down to the area late and it was already way too crowded to get close to where they were taking off so we just snapped a few photos and headed back home for some swimming... Anna found some pictures of past flugtag contestants for some visual reference for her readers in Japan...
土曜日の今日はロングビーチのレインボウハーバーに１年に一回フラッグタグが来る日。フラッグタグと言うのは、いろんな人がグループ事に乗り物を作ってそれ用に作られた高台の上から海に目掛けて飛ぶ距離を競う物なんです。やっぱりのんびり行き過ぎたせいで観客がいっぱいで見れる所無し、なのでそのままグルッと回って泳ぎに行く事にしました。この写真は過去のフラッグタグの写真です。一応参考にどうぞ...

Madison loves the water...she always has...bathtime has always been her favorite part of the day...so our new place fits her well...so far she hasn't been the biggest fan of the ocean because it is too cold, but boy does she love the saltwater pool which is heated and very nice...
水が大好きなマディソン...生まれた時からお風呂大好きだったし、だから今のアパートはマディソンにぴったり...海はやっぱり冷たすぎるのかな今の所結構嫌がられているけどプールは大好き。プールの水は実は海水でしかも温度調節がしてあるから暖かくて気持ち良いんだよね：）

Bonus video = Cutest thing Madison does right now...WALK THE DOGS!!! She loves to hold their leashes whether the Beans are attached or not does not seem to be a concern of Madison's. Whenever we are leaving she wants to grab a leash and when poor Coco hears the leash she comes excitedly running because she thinks it is walk time...I think she has started to learn that Madison is just messing with her :-)
ボーナスビデオ＝最近マディソンがするとてもカワイイ事は...犬の散歩なんです!!!エリーとココの散歩ヒモを掴んで歩き回るのが好きでその反対側にエリーやココが付いてても付いてなくてもどうでも良いみたい...だからアパートの中で散歩ヒモ持って歩き回る度にかわいそうなココが嬉しそうに散歩に行けると思って駆け寄って来るんだけど、そうじゃないんだよね...でも昨日今日とやっと分かり出したみたい...散歩ヒモが鳴っていてもマディソンがただ引っ張って歩き回っているだけで散歩に行く訳じゃないって：）

Aquarium of the Pacific/太平洋の水族館

Yesterday we officially became proud members of the Aquarium of the Pacific. Get this...for the total fee of $80 Anna, Madison and I can now go to the Aquarium for free for a whole year...the cost for a single ticket is $24.95 a person...UNBELIEVABLE!!! The San Diego Zoo and Safari Parks have the same type of discount for membership so when we visit there in the near future we will also get a membership because all we have to do is go twice in a year and it more than pays for itself and San Diego is less than two hours away...AWESOME!! Disneyland and LegoLand do not have as good of deals for members as they have blackout dates galore (like no weekends) and we figure Aquariums and Zoos are more fun for Madison right now so we are going to wait on the Amusement parks...okay that being said, please enjoy our visit to the Aquarium...
昨日、正式に太平洋の水族館の年間メンバーになってきました。何と払った金額は家族３人で８０ドルだけ、それだけでこれから１年間水族館に行きたい放題！普通の入料金は一日大人一人２４ドル９５セントなのに...信じられない!!!サンディエゴにある動物園も同じような特別格安料金が年間メンバーにあるみたいなので今度そこに行く時はちゃんとそれも買うつもり...ここからサンディエゴまで２時間ほどかかるけど、一年に２回行けばそれで元が取れてしまうなんて凄い特すぎる...素晴らしい!!でもそれに比べてディズニーランドとレゴランドである年間メンバーの値段はそんなに安くないし、週末とか来ちゃいけない日が沢山ありすぎるから、もう少しマディソンが大きくなってから買う事に決めました。今の所何時でも行ける水族館と動物園があれば十分だからね。それでは昨日の水族館での体験報告をどうぞ...

It began with our mile and a half walk along our backyard to what we thought was the Aquarium...that round building in the distance...
アパートの裏庭から浜辺を２キロ歩いて向かったのは、水族館だと思っていた水色の建物...

I mean who wouldn't think a large circular building with huge whales painted on it was an aquarium...but in Long Beach that passes for an Arena...so we were re-directed three more blocks to the actual aquarium...right off the water which made more sense :-)
水色の建物にクジラの絵が付いていたら、普通水族館だと思うよね...でもこの建物は実はアリーナでそこからもう少し歩いて海辺の方向へ行く事に...

After getting our pictures taken for our membership cards we were greeted by Mr. Shark...

Next, a two story high fish tank with a huge Sea Bass inside...
次は、２階建ての高さがあるタンクにいた超巨大な鱸...

Other fun spots included the Shark and Sting Ray petting pool that Madison enjoyed splashing in...also one of the adult sharks had laid infertile shark eggs that morning so we got to touch them as well...cool stuff.
面白かった場所/展示といえば、サメとかエイが触れるプール...マディソンは触るまではいかなかったけど水に手を入れてバシャバシャ出来たのが嬉しかったみたい...そして、その日の朝卵を産んだサメがいたんだけど中の卵は赤ちゃんに孵らないらしくそれに触らせて貰う事が出来ました。凄いでしょ。
