Madison meets Mommy's Co-Workers/マディソン、ママの仕事に行く

Today Madison and I ventured onto the island of Manhattan for the second time to visit Mommy's work. Anna's co-workers were all very fond of Madison as Madison once again showed that she is very social...
今日、２回目となるマンハッタンのママの仕事場まで言ってきました。またまた人見知りしないマディソンに満足。

Here we have one of Anna's co-workers, Tsukasa, whose wife is 10 days away from her due date getting a little practice in on Madison.
ママと一緒には働いている司...司の奥さんは後１０日で出産予定日だからマディソンでだっこの練習中。

Madison also enjoyed being held by Freddy...not pictured is Kristin who held Madison the longest and threatened to take Madison home herself...I kept a close eye on her.

After meeting everyone and waiting for Mommy to finish her work, Madison found time to take a quick snooze.
みんなに会った後ママの仕事が終わるまでちょっと一休み！

The other happening to report is our attempt at changing Madison's sleeping pattern...right now the pattern is Madison stays asleep until she wakes up...that means when she goes to bed at 8:30pm (because she becomes inconsolable if we try to keep her up) she usually sleeps until 1:30am, but last night we decided to wake her up at 10:30 and keep her up until Mommy and I went to sleep about midnight and Madison wound up sleeping straight till 5am...that was awesome!! So tonight Madison went to sleep around 8:30pm and then woke-up at 10:00pm on her own and we thought...perfect this girl catches on quick, but it was a fake wake-up as when we put her on the couch so Anna and I could finish the Patrick Dempsey classic, Made of Honor, this happened...
その他に起こった事と言えばマディソンの睡眠時間を調整しようとしてる事...今まではマディソンが起きるまで寝かせてあげてたから例えば８時半に寝始めるとすると朝の１時半頃まで寝るんだけど昨日の夜１０時半頃に起こして１２時までがんばって起きててもらったらなんと朝の５時まで一回も起きずに寝てくれたのです！すぐ慣れれるかなっと思って映画を見ていたらこんな事に...

cute, but not part of the plan (and we didn't let her neck stay like that very long)....now it is 11:15pm and she is sleeping on Mommy's lap after a little snack...so not the plan!!!
可愛いけどせっかくの計画が...今１１時１５分でママの膝の上で寝っちゃってるマディソンまだまだ練習が必要みたい！

So it has been a slow couple of days this week, Monday we went to the gym and worked out with a couple of guys from the basketball team...Carl and Derrick showed Madison some dribbling moves...
月曜日に学校に行ってカールとデレックとバスケをした意外はあんまりつまらない２、３日...

The one thing we have been noticing is how much more expression filled she is which is a lot of fun...so on Tuesday I put her in her bouncer and got the following two pictures to send to Mom at work...
最近気づき始めたのはマディソンの表情が出てきた事...見ててとても楽しいよ：）なので火曜日にバウンサーにのせてママに送る用の写真を撮りました。

The weekend in pictures/週末報告

As I said in the previous post, this weekend we took our first road trip as a family of five to attend the funeral of my mom's cousin's wife near Boston and to spend some time at my parent's house in Connecticut and visit with my Dad, Brother, Sister-in-law and nephews (my Mom was off visiting her other granddaughter in Idaho...you can read all about her trip and Madison's cousin Lily, in my sister-in-laws wonderful blog at alysonklein.blogspot.com
今週末は前のブログでも言った通りにコネチカット州の家族に会いながらボストン間でデイヴの親戚のお葬式に行く事に...
The drive up was one of the longest in the five year history of drives to the folks place...not only was the traffic horrendous, but so was the company in the car...we started with Coco in a dog carrier on the driver's side seat and Ellie Bean in the back with Madison and Anna...it took the girls about an hour to calm down and just as they did we hit the traffic...we ended up stopping at a mall in Trumbull, CT to re-energize and regroup.
コネチカットまでの道は渋滞で今までで一番長くかかった上にエリーとココは車の中で泣きどうし！途中で止まって休む事に...

One cute moment on the first half of our trip was when Ellie rested her head on Madison's car seat...both eventually fell asleep.
旅行の前半でおこってとても可愛かったのはエリーがマディソンのカーシートの淵でマディソンと一緒に寝っちゃったところ...

At the mall I tried to tire out the girls by walking them around outside while Anna took Madison inside the Target store...upon leaving we decided to give Coco her freedom and put both girls on the front seat...this was rough for a little while and then this happened...
途中で寄る事にしたモールでアンナとマディソンがターゲットで買い物をしている間エリ−とココを歩き疲れさせようとがんばってその結果がこれ！

It was so cute...Anna took this picture from the back seat. They did so great and the traffic began to lighten up...we made what should have been a two hour trip in just over four hours...but in the end it felt like one of our best trips ever!!
アンナが撮ったこの写真可愛いでしょ？その上渋滞も軽くなって２時間で着くはずが４時間ちょっともかかってしまったけど結果的には悪くないドライブに...：）

The next day we had planned to drive to Boston ourselves, but our nephew Grant fell ill so my sister-in-law Holly had to stay home with him so my brother Robert and nephew Carter invited the three of us to ride with them...
次の日の朝、アンナとマディソンの３人でボストンに行くはずが甥のグラントが風邪を引いて残念ながらホーリ−と家に残る事に...なのでロバートとカーターと一緒の車で行く事に：）
Carter was all smiles with his video game, but his back seat mate was a little noisy for his liking on occasion so Carter started to hum a lullaby he remembered his daddy singing to him as a kid to try to calm down Madison...it was so sweet...later we found out he was just humming to keep himself from going insane from Madison's screaming, but it was still really cute.
ビデオゲームが大好きなカーターはご機嫌でもマディソンの機嫌が悪くなってぐずりだした後マディソンのために子守唄を歌ってくれました。っと思っていたら実はマディソンがうるさかったから自分の気をまぐれさせる為に鼻歌歌っていたらしい...なーんだ！

After the funeral, my Mom's sister, Aunt Gail, filled in for Grandma and introduced Madison to her extended family of Great Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Everyone took turns holding Madison, and she did very well with all the attention.
お葬式の後来れなかったリンダおばあちゃんの代わりにリンダの妹のゲイルおばちゃんがマディソンをデイヴの親戚に紹介してくれました。マディソンもみんなに会えてよかったみたい：）
Once we got back to Connecticut Dad treated us all to pizza at a local park.
コネチカットに帰ってきた後は公園でピザの夕飯。

It is quite possible that the family members that enjoy a trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house the most is Ellie and Coco...they have so much fun running around in the yard and house...Anna and I took the opportunity to give them a bath in Mom and Dad's spa tub...don't worry we cleaned it afterwards!!

On Sunday, after worship, we went to a local outdoor shopping center and had lunch with the family and some friends from church...after lunch we went to a couple shops and Carter got to push Madison...

Day of Firsts/いろんな一番最初の日

With apologies to Mr. Gump...Madison is like a box of chocolates...we never know what we are going to get...this morning we got up around 7:30 like usual to see Mommy off to work...at 8:15 Madison was sitting in her boppy on the couch in between Anna and I. Anna and I were talking about something when all of a sudden we both looked at Madison and she was fast asleep...it was soooooo cute...she had never fallen asleep like that before...our little girl is growing up!
マディソンって中身のわからないチョコレートの箱みたい。何するか予想がつかない！今朝７：３０頃にママを見送るために起きたマディソン、８：１５分頃アンナと僕の間でボッピーの上に座っていたはずが会話中にふとマディソンを見るとなんと座ったまま寝ちゃってました。カワイ〜イ！！こんな風に寝ちゃったのは初めて...なんていい子なんだろ：）

The other first involves Madison packing for her first ever road trip...I wish it could be under happier terms as we are heading up to Boston this weekend to attend the funeral of my Mom's cousin's wife...he is like an uncle to me and his wife is gone way too soon. That being said, we haven't tried traveling with all three of our girls yet, so this should be interesting...besides Ellie the Pomeranian we have Coco the Yorkie who is working on being re-potty trained and could quite possibly have the smallest bladder in the animal kingdom as she seems to go every few seconds...that is a lot of pit stops :-) We will be aiming to get to my folks place on Friday night, leave the doggies and then head down to a suburb of Boston on Saturday for the 10am funeral.
その他の初めてする事と言えば、初めてのちょっとした旅行に行く事。休暇のためだったらいいんだけどボストンまでお葬式に行かなきゃ行けない事に...エリーとココを連れて出かけるのはこれが初めてどうなることやら...まず金曜日にはコネチカット州のパパの両親の家に行って一晩泊まり土曜日の朝ママとマディソンと３人でボストンまでお葬式に行く事に...

Not so exciting／あんまりなかった日

Blogs are difficult when you don't do anything exciting...today was another day at the gym...Madison was very cooperative and I got to play in three games...don't tell Anna, but I did allow two of my more trustworthy players to push Madison around the gym when she woke up so I could play a little more...she fell back to sleep...such a good girl!! Madison also got introduced to some more of my co-workers who thought she was very cute...they just stayed there staring at her for close to ten minutes...who am I kidding...I love to do that too!!
何もいい事しなかった日はブログを書くのが難しい...今日は体育館に行く日、マディソンのおかげかマディソンのベビーカーを押してくれたパパの生徒２人のおかげか３試合も楽しむ事ができたパパ：）長ーく眠ってくれたマディソンに感謝！そして今日はパパと一緒に働いている人たちにも会いました。１０分近くマディソンを見つめてばっかり！とても可愛いって：）

I dressed Madison in this cute onesie because it was a gift which means somebody actually believes Madison's daddy is actually all those things.

Since it is a slow news night I am throwing in this picture of Madison in her awesome PJs from Japan...they are so samurishly ninjarific!! Anna wanted me to save it for some sort of PJ montage, but all of her PJs kind of look like this except they don't have the part that covers her knees...so it wouldn't be a very exciting montage...each PJ wraps around Kimono style with ties instead of buttons...I love them!!

The Older Sister／お姉ちゃん

Before there was Madison...there was Ellie...Ellie is our 2 year old Pomeranian and was definitely the daughter we never had before Madison arrived...I remember when we first brought Ellie home and she was keeping us up at night with her whining and struggling to be potty trained and I voiced to my sister-in-law, Holly, that I thought raising this puppy was just as hard, if not harder, then raising a kid...she respectfully disagreed by laughing in my face and now I can understand why :-) When we brought home Madison though, introducing her to Ellie and our Yorkie, Coco, was very important to us. It seems Ellie has adjusted to life with Madison pretty well and actually seems quite protective of her as often when Madison is crying in her crib you will find Ellie with her paws up on the crib making sure she is okay...it is super cute, but the problem is by the time you get the camera ready she hops down...so for today's picture of the day I am not proud to say that I rigged the situation by hiding Ellie's rawhide in Madison's bouncer so that Ellie would stay in one place long enough to attempt to get a picture of the two of them together...it was almost successful!
マディソンが生まれる前にエリーが生まれました...エリーは２歳のポメラニアンで杏奈達の娘同様です。エリーは自分の事犬って思ってないはず！初めてエリーを家に連れてきた時は夜泣きで起こされたりトイレの訓練したりと大変。恥ずかしいけどホリーに子犬を育てるのは子育てより大変と言って笑われたのを覚えています。初めてマディソンを連れて病院から帰ってきた時本で読んだ通りマディソンをエリーとココにすぐに紹介。エリーには嫉妬みたいな事は全然無くむしろお姉ちゃんみたいに守りたいよう。マディソンがベッドで泣くたんびにあわてて駆けつけて後ろ足で立って心配そうに見ています。すごい可愛いから写真を撮りたいんだけどカメラを準備するたびに下りちゃうからなかなか難しー！この写真はパパが無理とエリーの好きな皮をバウンサーの中に隠して動かないのを計って写真を撮ろうとしている様子。

Madison is also beginning to interact a lot more with her surroundings...this is especially evident in her bouncer where she is beginning to dance to the one tune that the cheap thing plays...I am sure that will get old real quick, but right now it is cute!

Back to the Beach／また海へ

We make plans...but we are not guaranteed tomorrow...that reminder came this week. We had planned for Madison's Grandparents, Aunt, Uncle and Cousins to come down and meet us at Jones Beach today, but early last week my Mom lost her Aunt and plans change. The drive with our little one and the two doggies coupled with our late night last night would have been too much, but our thoughts and prayers were with my Mom and her cousins.
せっかく計画を立てても明日何がおこるか解らない。本当は今週末にマディソンのおじいちゃん、おばあちゃん、おじちゃん、おばちゃん、いとこ達とジョーンズ海岸に行く予定でいたけど月曜日にリンダから電話が来てリンダのおばさんが亡くなった事を聞きました。小さなマディソンといぬ２匹を連れて金曜日の夜遅く行くのは大変すぎとお葬式には行かない事に。

So Anna and I decided to still try-out Jones Beach...again, but this time we were armed with our tent and we were going to make it off the boardwalk for the first time this summer. The Bugaboo (as you can see in the video) cut through the sand like a hot knife through butter!! It was fun to watch others with their more practical strollers have to struggle to carry them through the sand while I ran circles around them with my Bugaboo!! You know how you sometimes see a Semi truck go through a big puddle and you think...oh that looked easy...and then you don't make it...well I think that happened to the stroller that entered the sand after us...I think they saw my Bugaboo kicking butt and thought they would give it a shot...they didn't last a yard!!! Alright, enough about the Bugaboo and its magical powers...back to the beach. We found a nice spot right down by the water...at this point Madison was sleeping which made set-up easier...a few minutes into our getting settled on the beach, the little one awoke so Madison and Anna shuffled into the tent and did their thing...then Madison laid in the tent a little, but couldn't get comfortable...we began to have flashbacks of last night's ballgame when she refused to settle and we were about ready to pack everything back-up, but we tried one switch to the Bugaboo and I was able to rock her into closed eyes...it was very exciting because it meant I could go back to some of the best waves I had ever ridden at Jones Beach...the kind that break a nice distance out and don't have a vicious under tow...Daddy liked very much!!! So all in all we stayed about two hours and learned that next time we could pack a little lighter, but in the end, I thought it was quite an accomplishment for the three of us!
なのでジョーンズ海岸にまた行く事に決定でも今回は準備満々で初めて砂浜まで行く計画。バガブーだと砂の上でも楽々に移動する事ができて大満足、他の家族が安物のベビーカーで苦戦しているのを見てちょっと悪い気が...波打ち際の近くに場所を見つけて早速設置開始！マディソンが寝ていたからすぐできました：）全部広げ終わった頃マディソンが起きてきたので新しく買ったテントを使ってママのミルクを飲みました。でもやっぱり慣れてないところではなかなか寝付けなく昨日の野球試合の時のように家に帰らなきゃ行けないかなーと思っていたらパパがマディソンをバガブーに移して揺すってみる事に...結果は？成功！パパは海に入って波乗りを満喫。結局２時間近くいる事に成功！来てよかった：）

Not a Baseball Fan／野球の興味なし...

Way back in March the Varsity Baseball Team at my school ran a fundraiser where if they could sell 100 tickets to a Staten Island Yankee Game then they would be able to play one of their games on their field...well they played that game in April and tonight was the Staten Island Yankee Game. So Anna, Madison and I traveled to Staten Island early in the afternoon to avoid the traffic and then we took the free ferry (best value in all of NYC) over to lower Manhattan where we had lunch and visited some stores. Then we took the ferry back to Staten Island and the ballpark is right there. We saw some of my co-workers and some of the guys from the baseball team, but it was a little too long of a day for Madison as she couldn't handle the excitement of the ballgame and we had to leave before the fourth inning...on the plus side we beat all the traffic home and a pretty strong thunderstorm!!
長い話になるけどまず最初はパパの学校の野球部の子達が今夜のスタテンアイランドヤンキーズの件を１００枚売れれば４月の終わりに他の学校のチームと練習試合ができるという事に...ナノで今日はお昼頃にスタテンアイランドへ向かって出発！そこからフェリーに乗ってマンハッタンの下の辺に到着。お昼を食べて少し買い物をしながら３人でぶらぶらしまたフェリーに乗って帰りフェリーを降りてすぐそこにある野球場に行きました。試合を見に来たパパの仕事仲間や生徒達にマディソンを紹介したりとしていたけどやっぱりマディソンには長過ぎた一日...４回に行く前に家に帰る事に...渋滞と大雨が防げたからよかったんだけどね：）ありがとマディソン！

While she wouldn't stop fussing as we sat in our front row seats at the ballgame, she fell asleep within the two minute walk it took to reach the car...what a punk :-)
野球場ではぐずってばっかりのマディソンは車まで歩いていた２分間のうちにすっかりと寝付いちゃいました。うっそ〜！

Snooze Fest／お眠り大会

If the ability to sleep was an Olympic sport I would probably have as many gold medals as Michael Phelps...but I am quickly learning Miss Madison could give me a run for my money! Last night she went to sleep at 8:00pm and slept until 1:00am...then Mommy fed her and she slept until 5:00am when Mommy fed her again and she slept until 8:00am. Then we played a little bit, saw Mommy off to work and had breakfast...I put her down at 9:00am in her crib and just as I was about to take my own nap around 9:30am she began to cry, so I moved her to the bed with me and we ended up sleeping until noon!!! It was awesome! Then I spent the rest of the day trying to unhook our cable box (it was miserable) so I could trade it in for an HD one and Madison watched me for a while and then was ready to sleep again...
もし睡眠がオリンピックの大会種目だったらマイケル フェルプスと同じ数の金メダルを持っているはずのパパ、でもマディソンという新しいライバルの出現だ！昨日の夜８時から朝の１時まで寝てママのミルクを飲んだ後５時までお休み、またママのミルクを飲み８時までお休み。少し遊んだ後仕事に行くママのお見送りをして、朝ご飯のミルクを飲んで９時ぐらいに横になり始めて９時半頃パパが朝寝をしようと思っているところでぐずって起きてきそうだったのでパパとママのベッドで一緒に横になる事に...びっくりする事に１２時まで寝ちゃってました！すごい！！その後新しいテレビのケーブルを交換するためにパパは必死でその箱を取り外し、少しの間パパを見ていたマディソンはまたお昼寝したそう...
I actually ended up having to wake her up when we had to run our errands because I was tired of waiting for her to wake-up. The video shows that process...she is so cute when she is waking up and stretching all her little limbs...this one wasn't as active as I would have liked...I guess because she wasn't actually ready to wake-up...
マディソンが起きてくるのを待ちきれなかったパパは無理矢理起こす事に挑戦！このビデオはその様子を映しています：）起きてくる時に思いっきり伸びをするのがとても可愛いんだけどこの時はまだ少し眠そう...いつもはもっと動くんだよ：）

Now she is back asleep with Mommy...maybe she knows we have a big day tomorrow with her first ever Baseball Game at the Staten Island Yankees Stadium so she is storing up her rest...smart girl!!
今度はママとお休み中のマディソン...明日初めての野球試合を見に行く予定だからそのためにしっかり休んでいるのかなー？

My Future's So Bright.../マディソンの眩い将来...

Today we received our shipment from One Step Ahead, a baby supply store that had our UV Tent at almost half the price of the store we looked at in Long Island. If you spent a certain amount you also got free shipping so of course we took advantage of that!! I actually did all the shopping one night while Anna slept and I do say I did a pretty good job...I got these cool puzzle pieces where one half is a texture or color and the other is an item that has that texture or color...for instance Madison can feel the rabbit with its fuzzy fur and then match it to the fuzzy puzzle piece...I also got activity cards that give simple things to do with your baby from age 0-12 months...the first card said to take a House Tour where you just go around the house and explain what you are doing...for instance I am opening the basement door...now I am closing the basement door...apparently she is supposed to find that stuff interesting. Then I heard my nephews are really into popsicles right now so I got two things called Drip Cups that the ice cream cone or popsicle sits in and then it catches all the drips...so hopefully they will enjoy those...lastly (besides the tent) were the super cool sunglasses you see above...actually I just needed an item to take me just over the free shipping cutoff and these fit the bill. The above picture was sent to Anna at work...she was not a fan. She said they looked huge on her and she is not a fan of the mirrored, ski goggle look.

今日、ワンステップアヘッドというお店から注文したマディソン用の海に行った時に使えるテントが着ました：）その他にもカルタみたいな片方に動物の絵が書いてあったりしてそのもう片方はその動物を触った感触が書いてあるというマディソンが遊んで勉強できるゲームも買ったのです。あっ、もう一つはマディソンとする事のアイデアがいっぱい書いてある本。早速デイヴがアイデアの一つを使って家の中で歩き回ってマディソンにいろいろ見せてあげてました。戸を開けたり閉めたりしながらやってることを言ってあげると赤ちゃんが興味を示すんだって。そうそうもう一つ買った物があった：）合計金額が８５ドルを超えると送金料がただになるからその値段を少し超えるために買ったマディソンのサングラス！デイヴがアンナの携帯に写真送ってくれたんだけど、アンナはこういう鏡みたいなサングラス好きじゃないんだけどねー。
Then when Anna got home she put the glasses on the top of Madison's head and liked it much more. She also thought the glasses looked cuter in person then in the picture I sent.
でも、アンナが家に帰った後サングラスをおでこにのせたら何だ可愛いじゃん！やっぱ写真より自分の目で見た方が全然いい！

Today was Wednesday, which meant it was back to the gym for Madison and I. Today Madison was a little more awake so she got to see basketball being played for the first time...unfortunately that meant Daddy didn't get to play any, but Madison enjoyed making laps around the gym in her Bugaboo as she still slept most of the time away...well Anna is done cutting the watermelon and it is a juicy red one...so I am done blogging!!
今日は水曜日、水曜日と言えば体育館に行く日：）今日のマディソンはいつもより目が覚めてたからバスケを見る事ができました。どの代わりにパパはバスケの代わりにお子守りをしなきゃいけなかったんだけど...　体育館の中でバガブーに乗って歩き回りながらお昼ね。美味しそうなスイカをアンナが切ってくれてるから今日はこれで終わり！

Today we added to our books...won't you please take a look.

Anna purchased some Japanese ones...while David finds Dr. Seuss a lot of fun.

Madison was not always happy...She needed to take a nappy.

After waking up, she got upset...then her eyes, began to get wet.

We also tried out our baby carry...Madison didn't find it scary.

We took it to the grocery store...I was afraid she would fall on the floor!

It is now 9:30 and both my girls are sleeping,
Anna is exhausted with the hours she is keeping.

So that was our day, not much to say...
tomorrow the gym, wish we could go for a swim!!
